Course Syllabus (Schedule)
Tentative Classroom Activity Schedule:
Due to the non-linear nature of this course day to day activities will not be held to a ridged scheduled but followed based on the time required to complete the work in a thorough and meaningful manner as determined by the instructor(s) and students. The following schedule is tentative and only represents the general direction of the course.
Many assignments will be discussed and designed by the class with direction and requirements outlined by the instructor. In this course the assignments will be designed with the students and the instructors. The instructor will assist in providing information that will enhance learning, provide direction, and uphold scholarly standards. Students are to provide information of interest, needs of knowledge, outline existing knowledge, and communicate effective methods of learning. Students are recognized as thinking individuals that can potentially contribute to all aspects of the course.
Teachers and students will work together to modify assignments, provide project evaluation, and aid in the education of peers.
Students will primarily work in groups. Projects and assignments will most likely not be the same for all students and teams in the class. Instructors will design in conjunction with the student(s) class, group, and individual assignments.
Studio Days:
Studio Work Days – Mondays and Wednesdays, unless scheduled for presentations, are to be used for production of design and research. The instructors will engage students in desk critiques and small group discussions.
Presentation Days – You will have five formal presentations in the studio. It is the responsibility of the student to be prepared for the presentation including reservation, testing and preparation of the presentation technology, arrangement of furnishing, and overall preparation of the review environment.
Workshop/Field Trip Days – Fridays are to be reserved for workshops that may cover technical instruction, discussions, and field trips. Do not expect to use Fridays as time to work on your projects.
